Paradise Cove, Hawaii

"Aloooooohhhaaa! and welcome to Paradise cove!" cue the drums, flame dancers and grass skirts.
I recall watching a episode of Anthony Bourdains No Reservations. I'm surprised that he even went
to such a touristy trap. But wait he did enjoy...he drank and even took part in the festivities. It couldnt be all that bad?

Island Girl Went Surfing..

Ive said a few times that I see myself as an Island girl. I know its a contradicton as i'm a city girl living in a busy London town, born and bread to survive in a concrete jungle and adapted to cold dreary weather conditions. I do love my city, it is home afterall, however I do believe that somewhere in my past life I was an Island Girl living lovely near the ocean and sunshine.

Eggs N' Things - Waikiki

"Eat Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper."

Breakfast to me is the most important meal of the day. Fuel up that tank and your good to go. It is also my favourite mealtime as I see it as great opportunity to have something sweet as your main meal! I guess that's the cake addict in me speaking right?

Hanauma Bay

Hanauma Bay Website

Hanauma Bay is one of my favorite places in Hawaii. A perfect little beach with lots of beautiful coral and sea life. A great opportunity to do some snorkeling and actually see fishes! At first glance, the beautiful golden sand against the clear blue sea and the foamy white waves crashing against the cliffs is truly magical. Definitley a sight for sore eyes for an Island girl that lives in the concrete jungle. Places like these really reminds you how far you are from home.
Hanauma is easy to get to from Waikiki. You can take the public bus number 22 directly to the Bay. There is an entry fee (less than $10) and before going down to the Bay everyone has to watch a 20 minute documentary, explaining the history and upkeep of the marine life. It shows people what to do and what not to do with the sea life that is abundant in these waters and also how to be careful around the sharp corals. Hanauma bay preserves the marine life that is almost non existent in tourist busy beaches like Waikiki. Very far from the busy hotels and shopping centres, Hanauma's curved bay is surrounded by beautifully carved cliffs and hills. The best time to go is early in the morning (before lunchtime) as it can get a little busy from visitors and tourists.

Cousin Shorts' Honolulu Tour

Photos by Me.
Enoa Tours Website

"Alooohaa, you can call me Cousin Shorts"...really? I remember thinking why he was called shorts, is that his real name? He did look like a Joe Pesci wearing a Aloha shirt. I'm still wondering why his name is Shorts! Either way, Cousin Shorts definitely felt like family towards the end of the day tour. If you ever go on a tour in Oahu, Cousin Shorts from Enoa Tours is your man.
A group day tour with Enoa cost about $80. A bargain for all things you see, experience and learn. Cousin shorts took us all over the place and was amazed with all the knowledge he had about pretty much everything. We also did a separate morning tour of Pearl harbour which was less than $30 each.
I will keep it simple and just show you rather than tell you! This is just a selection of all the beautiful sights I saw that day.

Aloha and Welcome to Paradise..

...it was music to my ears when the announcement came over the tannoy. Finally...18 hours later, I was in the Island. My first ever trip to Hawaii, and I'm greeted with a rain shower and a beautiful rainbow. Rain or shine, I was happy.

Surprisingly, upon descent I noticed all the uniformed buildings and high rise apartments and busy motorways. Hmm...Wheres the sand? mountains? palm trees?! Not the secluded and small Island like I pictured in my head. Oahu is not the biggest Island in Hawaii, but it is the most populated and congested. Its still a very beautiful island and I got to see so much of its beauty (the side I obviously did not see upon descent lol).
